In a decisive move against terror funding, the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) administration terminated six officials, including five policemen, on Saturday. The dismissal came as a result of allegations linking these individuals to narco-terrorism and supporting infiltrating terrorists.

The dismissed officials include:

  • Farooq Ahmad Sheikh (Head Constable)
  • Khalid Hussian Shah (Constable)
  • Rahmat Shah (Constable)
  • Irshad Ahmad Chalkoo (Constable)
  • Saif Din (Constable)
  • Nazam Din (Teacher)

According to a government spokesperson, the administration, under Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, invoked Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution to remove these employees following a comprehensive investigation. The probe uncovered their involvement in a narco-terror network operated by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and various terror groups based in Pakistan.

This action follows the dismissal of eight other employees over similar allegations within the past month. Most of the removed officials were stationed in areas near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.

Law enforcement and intelligence agencies flagged the activities of these officials, revealing their substantial involvement in operations harmful to the state. Notably:

Saif Din, a Selection Grade Constable from Doda district, is accused of being a prominent drug dealer and mastermind in the narco-terror funding network. He is also alleged to have worked as an Over Ground Worker (OGW) for the Hizbul Mujahideen.

Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, Head Constable, along with Khalid Hussian Shah and Rahmat Shah, received large narcotic shipments from smugglers across the LoC. Sheikh had connections with Pakistan-based terrorists involved in smuggling drugs, weapons, and money.

Khalid Hussian Shah, Selection Grade Constable, used his knowledge of local terrain to engage with narcotic smugglers and run a drug cartel in the Kupwara-Karnah region.

Rahmat Shah, Constable, also engaged in narco-terror activities, leveraging his understanding of local geography to facilitate drug smuggling.

Irshad Ahmad Chalkoo, Selection Grade Constable, formed close ties with terrorists from the proscribed group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). He used encrypted messaging to communicate with terrorists and facilitated the transport of weapons.

Nazam Din, a teacher from Poonch, was implicated as a dedicated drug peddler and OGW for Hizbul Mujahideen. He is accused of handling narcotic consignments for further distribution, even to locations like Punjab, while maintaining connections with terrorists in Pakistan.

The J&K administration's stringent measures reflect its commitment to combating terror and maintaining state security.
