Jerusalem: On Saturday, July 27th, a devastating rocket strike by Hezbollah claimed the lives of around 12 people, including children, in the town of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights. The rocket, fired by the Islamic terror outfit from Lebanon, landed on a soccer field, causing a tragic loss of life among children and young teens aged 10-20 who had no time to escape the carnage.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed a swift response against the perpetrators. The attack also left several dozen others injured, with Baruch Padeh Medical Center reporting that four people were brought to the facility in serious condition, while Ziv Medical Center in Safed admitted 32 victims. Idan Avshalom, a medic at the scene, described the devastation: “We witnessed great destruction when we arrived at the soccer field, as well as items that were on fire. There were casualties on the grass and the scene was gruesome.” Video footage shows distraught parents searching for their children on the soccer field.

Initially, Hezbollah took responsibility for the attack but later retracted its statement, claiming it had no involvement. However, the Israeli Defense Forces confirmed the attack originated from Chebaa village in Lebanon, based on their assessment and intelligence. Col. Avichay Adraee stated, “Despite its attempts to deny: Hezbollah is responsible for the massacre in Majdal Shams and the killing of children and boys on the soccer field.”

Meanwhile, conspiracy theories have emerged on social media, with some attempting to implicate Israel in the attack. Sulaiman Ahmed tweeted, “BREAKING: THE ‘ATTACK’ ON ISRAEL WAS AN IRON DOME INTERCEPTOR MISSILE FAILURE.” Others, like Richard Medhurst and Jackson Hinkle, echoed similar sentiments, suggesting that the Israeli Iron Dome system was at fault. Despite these claims, video footage of the Hezbollah rocket strike has surfaced on social media, confirming the terror group's involvement in the tragic incident.
