First salary and beginning of career
John said that after doing an MBA, he joined a company where he got his first salary of Rs 6,500. After this, he was promoted as a media planner in an advertising agency. John participated in the Gladrags Manhunt competition in 1999, in which Shahrukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Karan Johar, and Karan Kapoor were the judges.
Lunch expenses and life's hardships
After winning the competition, John received a prize of Rs 40,000, which was a huge amount for him. But John said that even at that time his expenses were very low. He used to eat chapati and dal fry in his lunch, the total cost of which was only Rs 6.25. John said that he used to come home after having breakfast and did not have dinner due to working in the office. The main part of his expenses was the petrol of the bike.
