Satyameva Jayate starring John Abraham thrilled the audiences on Independence Day and now nine months post its release, the film is all geared up for a sequel, Besides, of course, John Abraham at the epicentre of this film, the change is going to be in his ladylove and while Satyameva Jayate had Aisha Sharma romance John, its sequel will see John Abraham romance Divya Khosla Kumar.
“Milap had fleshed our strong characters for John and Manoj Vajpayee in the first part. This time, he has written a memorable leading role for Divya. While SMJ2 will still pack a lot of punches, this time around it will be a commercial family entertainer with a patriotic flavour. What drew her to the project is that the role is integral to the narrative and will present her in an interesting light,” as quoted by media.
The final draft of SMJ2 has been locked by director Milap Zaveri, and will soon start the prep for the film. Since Milap is busy with Sidharth Malhotra’s Marjaavaan currently and therefore, after its release on October 2, 2019, SMJ2 will go on floors soon. Satyameva Jayate saw the highest opening for a John film and the fifth highest opener of 2018, the film minted 103.21 crore in India and due to the good reviews, the makers are back with a sequel within a year.
For all those who don’t know, Divya made her acting debut in the 2004 film Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo opposite Akshay Kumar and later, in 2014, she made her directorial debut with the coming-of-age film Yaariyan.
