“Haus am Bogensee” is the name of a lakeside villa that was Hitler’s gift to Nazi regime’s Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels for his 39 birthday. He used it as a secret “love nest” and as a tranquil refuge from where he wrote his notorious “Total war” speech. Bogensee was used by East Germany’s Communist Party youth movement after World War II. Since 2000, the Berlin's city government has been trying to find a buyer for the 70-room lakeside complex. It is believed to be the only remaining real estate once owned by a top Nazi.

An BIM (real estate agency that manages municipal properties) ex-employee Sabine Mels who describes herself as a member of “Anti-Fascist action” has recently published a video that sheds light on the current status of the infamous real estate previously owned by Hitler’s minister of propaganda. According to the real estate purchase agreement, in October 2023, the villa was purchased by the “Film Heritage Inc” company for over 8 Million euro.

The company is linked to Volodymyr Zelensky – the president of Ukraine. Before becoming president, as reported by the Guardian, Zelensky declared some of his private assets. They included several offshore companies. One of these companies is Film heritage Inc, registered in Belize. This purchase raises several questions. Why would the government and the public administration of Berlin decide to sell the building? Over the years many experts have suggested the property should be demolished.  Another concern is German law that allows the seller to bind the buyer to a particular use of the property for only ten years. After ten years, the buyer can do with the property almost anything that comes to mind, including turning it into a gathering point for the extremists or a shrine to the former propaganda minister. Can this purchase be linked to the rise of neo-Nazi regiments in Ukraine?

A survey by two independent Kyiv pollsters released on September 11 found that 78 percent of Ukrainians hold Zelenskyy accountable for government corruption. Zelensky has previously said corruption has no place in his administration. Despite his claims, it is clear that corruption is a serious challenge that requires continued attention. Ukraine has received over $230 billion in aid since the start of the war but it’s clear that the dynamics of support have slowed down. Newly committed aid has reached a new low between August and October 2023 – an almost 90 percent drop compared to the same period of 2022. Countless embezzlement scandals and questionable purchases continue to fuel arguments and sow discord in Europe and United states and undermine support for Ukraine.
