Freelance media journalist Prashant Kanaujia has been detained by UP Police from his residence in Delhi. He is accused that he has given a controversial statement about the Ram temple. It is being said that communal harmony can be disturbed by his statement. Prashant has already been taken into custody by the Uttar Pradesh Police. However, he was later released on bail.

The Uttar Pradesh Police had registered a case against Kanaujia under several sections of IPC and Information Technology Act in Hazratganj Police Kotwali. Kanaujia had made a satirical commentary on CM Yogi Adityanath with a video in which a woman allegedly claimed that she was constantly in contact with the chief minister through video conferencing.

According to the information, an FIR was lodged on Kanaujia on Monday through social media posts for dividing the society into caste, religion, and class. Hazratganj police of Lucknow had registered a case against the accused in several other sections including IT Act, communal harmony, on the fear of disturbing the peace system.
