Joymalya Bagchi takes oath in as Andhra Pradesh High Court judge

Justice Joymalya Bagchi was sworn in as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.  High Court Chief Justice JK Maheshwari administered the oath of office to him.

Justice Bagchi had earlier served as a Kolkata High Court judge and was here on transfer. Justice Bagchi will continue to be second in the seniority of AP High Court judges. Bagchi came to the Andhra Pradesh High Court in place of the recently retired Justice Rakesh Kumar.

Meanwhile, Justice Arup Kumar Goswami will be sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on June 6 while the current High Court Chief Justice JK Maheshwari is going on transfer as Sikkim High Court Chief Justice.

The High Court judges will bid farewell to Maheshwari at 3.30 pm today. Justice JK Maheshwari took over as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on October 7 last year. He was earlier served as Madhya Pradesh High Court judge.
