New Delhi: From the disputed Gyanvapi complex in Varanasi to Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, the temple-mosque dispute continues. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to be distancing itself from issues like Gyanvapi and Mathura. The saffron party has indicated that these issues are separate from the Ram Mandir issue, for which the party had passed a resolution in the party's convention in 1989. BJP chief JP Nadda on Monday indicated that the party does not want to get directly into the ongoing struggle to take back the Gyanvapi Masjid in Varanasi and Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura.
In response to a question, JP Nadda said that these issues are decided by the Constitution of India and the court. BJP only follows them. When asked whether temples in Mathura and Kashi are included in BJP's agenda like the Ayodhya issue. To this, he said that there is a difference between these three issues. Nadda said that the BJP had passed a resolution on the Ram temple issue during its Palampur session. After this, no resolution was passed in BJP.
Nadda was referring to the 1989 convention of the BJP in Palampur. Passing the resolution here, the BJP had laid the foundation for joining the campaign for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. After this, on 26 September 1990, senior party leader LK Advani started the Rath Yatra for Ram temple from Somnath in Gujarat.
