Aljhuppa: BJP President J P Nadda has hit out at the Kerala government over the killing of two leaders within 12 hours in Aljhuppa, Kerala. He said, "The killing of BJP leader Ranjit Srinivasan by the fundamentalist is condemnable. This kind of cowardice cannot be tolerated. Kerala is becoming an illegal state under the leadership of the chief minister. The killing of two party leaders, including the BJP, has created a sensation in Alappuzha district of Kerala.''

Section 144 has been imposed in the district after the same sensational incidents. Cm Pinarayi Vijayan, on the other hand, strongly condemned the incident and directed strict action against the culprits. CM Vijayan has urged people to unite against the culprits who are trying to disturb social harmony. Meanwhile, opposition leaders have spoken of spreading communal hatred behind the incident.

Officials in the same Alappuzha district said that a BJP leader was killed about 12 hours later after the killing of the state secretary of the SDPI. This was followed by prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the entire Alappuzha district on Sunday. In Kerala, SDPI state secretary K S Shan was brutally attacked on his way home on Saturday night. Shan's party SDPI alleged that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was behind the incident. Police said Shan succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Kochi around midnight.
