Surat: After being sentenced to two years in a defamation case and losing his Lok Sabha membership, Rahul Gandhi has a new argument in this matter. After four years of filing the case, Rahul has said that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the right to file a defamation case against me. Not everyone can file a case. Rahul also said in his petition that even the judge who gave the verdict should have thought that what he was going to do would end my Lok Sabha membership.

Let us tell you that Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two years in jail by a court in Surat, Gujarat, in a defamation case involving the Modi surname. After this, he was declared 'disqualified' in the Lok Sabha. This case was filed in 2019. A petition was filed against him by BJP leader Purnesh Modi. He said that during a public meeting in Kolar, Rahul had said that Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, and Narendra Modi Why Modi is attached to the names of all the thieves On this, the petitioner, Purnesh Modi, said that the entire Modi community has been hurt by Rahul Gandhi's statement. After which, the court in Surat convicted Rahul Gandhi of its decision and sentenced him.

Senior advocates RS Cheema, Kirti Panawala, and Tarannum Cheema presented their arguments in court on behalf of Rahul Gandhi. He said that Purnesh Modi has no right to file a case on Rahul Gandhi's statement. Only Narendra Modi could have done this under Section 499 of the IPC. Rahul Gandhi said that Judge Hadiresh Verma should have thought about the impact of his decision before sentencing. He was well aware that sentencing me for two years in a defamation case would cost me my Lok Sabha membership. The judge should have thought about it.

However, the point to be noted here is that this case has been going on for four years, and the arguments Rahul Gandhi is giving today could have been given in court earlier also. He could have said in court that Purnesh Modi does not have the right to file a petition against him; then the court might have answered it, or would have heard it accordingly; or the case would have ended there, and the court's time would have been wasted. does not happen. But, at that time, Rahul or his lawyers did not make any such arguments in court; now, after 4 years of the case and after getting the punishment and losing his Lok Sabha membership, Rahul Gandhi is making these arguments. Now it remains to be seen what the court says on this matter.
