The World Day for International Justice is observed on July 17 every year to recognize the strengthening system of international justice and also to promote the rights of the victims. This day is known as the Day of International Criminal Justice, it marks the significance of fighting against impunity and bringing justice for the victims of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.

Historically, World Day for International Justice is observed to commemorate the historic adoption of the Rome Statute and the establishment of the new system of international criminal justice in the year 1998. The day recollects us to emphasize the importance of the International Criminal Court and the work it brings about justice for victims. This day also attracts people around the world to pay attention to serious issues and warn those people who affect peace, security, and well-being of nations at risk.

Notably, the establishment of International Criminal Court is seen as a historic moment  for peace and the rule of law. It is the first permanent and independent international judicial institution capable of trying individuals accused of serious violations of international humanitarian and human rights. The International Criminal Court does not replace national courts, but it is available when a country can't or won't carry out investigations or prosecute perpetrators.
