NEW DELHI: Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has promised to look into the issue of travellers being charged extra for generating boarding passes at the airport.

Scindia's remarks came after a passenger claimed on Twitter that SpiceJet had implemented a new policy in which the airline charges extra for issuing boarding passes at the check-in counter "SpiceJet has a new rule. You must pay an additional fee to obtain a boarding pass at the check-in counter. This is the equivalent of telling a consumer If you wish to eat on a plate in a restaurant, you will be charged. What is the consumer forum doing? @flyspicejet is a Twitter handle "Dr. Neeti Shikha, a passenger, took to Twitter.

Shikha went on to say that an airline cannot charge a customer extra for a ticket that has already been paid for.
Scindia recently took notice of another airport incident, stating that he will probe the alleged maltreatment of a specially-abled youngster by an IndiGo employee at the Ranchi airport.

A specially-abled child was reportedly denied boarding by an IndiGo manager on May 7.  Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) requested IndiGo's report on the event.
