Upendra, Shiva Rajkumar, Kiccha Sudeepa and Shriya Saran starrer Kabzaa is out in cinemas from today, March 17. Directed by R Chandru, the Kannada film Kabzaa along with the dubbed versions- Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam has been released on 4000 screens. R Chandru’s Kabzaa adapting KGF’s aesthetics. To an extent, it also adapts KGF’s story. And throughout, you get feeling while watching Upendra beheading men, killing one villain after another.

At best, it can be described as KGF’s poor cousin that’s all style but has no soul. Even though cut from the same cloth as KGF, Upendra’s Kabzaa hardly makes any impact. It’s unarguably one of the lousiest attempts in the name of making pan-Indian cinema.

The story takes place in two eras--the 1940s and 1970s. Arkeshwaran is an Indian Air Force pilot and saint-like. He doesn’t even have the guts to confess his love for king Veer Bahadur’s daughter Madhumathi (Shriya Saran) to his mother. One day, his brother Sankeswaran dies a tragic death and gets beheaded. It’s an end to Arkeswaran AKA Arka's good days. His life takes a turn and he grows into a deadly mafia head.

Kabzaa is 2 hours and 16 minutes and the Tamil dub version feels much longer. Starting from the colour tone to the editing pattern, every single element is inspired by Prashanth Neel-starrer. Kabzaa is a two-hour-long film replete with glossy visuals, slo-mo shots and dead men.

A lot of viewers are comparing Kabzaa to Yash starrer KGF. A Twitter user wrote, "#Kabzaa Just a poor attempt to create a  kgf." Another wrote, "WHY ALL PAN-INDIA FILMS FROM SOUTH, LOOK AND FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME NOW??."

The less said about the performances by Upendra, Sudeep and Shriya Saran, the better. There is no redeemable quality about Kabzaa except the ‘surprise’ in the climax, which gives a lead to the sequel. The sequence is tastefully done despite being quite predictable.

Apart from Upendra and Kiccha, the film also features Shriya Saran, Shiva Rajkumar, Murali Sharma, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Nawab Shah, and Posani Krishna Murali. It is produced by Anand Pandit, Sri Siddheshwara Enterprises, and Invenio Origin.
