Kolkata: BJP's national general secretary and in-charge of West Bengal Kailash Vijayvargiya has said that if the Trinamool Congress government in the state does not implement the citizenship amendment bill, then the central government will implement it. Kailash Vijayvargiya has also said that Mamata Banerjee is opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill because she fears to lose her minority vote bank.

Kailash Vijayvargiya expressed happiness over passing the Citizenship Amendment Bill by distributing sweets outside the BJP headquarters in Kolkata. The Citizenship Amendment Bill has been introduced for the purpose of granting citizenship to Hindu refugees in the country. Why is she opposing this bill? The Citizenship Amendment Bill has been passed from both the houses of Parliament. With this, late Thursday night, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad issued an official statement saying that the bill has also got approval from President Ram Nath Kovind. Attacking the Mamta government, Kailash Vijayvargiya said that TMC should clarify why it is opposing the citizenship of Hindu refugees.
