Karan Johar’s upcoming movie Kalank has released on Wednesday to gained a big opening. But on day 2. Dharma Productions’ big-ticket release, Kalank, faced a massive decline in its business on Thursday. On its second day at the box-office, the multi-starrer period drama collected Rs 11.45 crore. The drop from Wednesday, when the film earned Rs 21.60 crore, is 46.99 per cent. Its total collection stands at Rs 33.05 crore.
The Noted film critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and shared the box-office collection of the film. He wrote, “#Kalank has a fall on Day 2... A decline was on the cards, but the drop is much higher than expected... Will be interesting to see how it fares on Day 3 [#GoodFriday]... Wed 21.60 cr, Thu 11.45 cr. Total: ₹ 33.05 cr. India biz.”
Kalank, set in 1945-46 in Husnabad, Lahore of then British India, is essentially a tale of complex human relationships. It is set against the backdrop of the Hindu-Muslim feuds during the Partition.Abhishek Varman directorial stars Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles.
