Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved a proposal to provide 10 per cent reservation in government jobs and education to the General category. "The Cabinet meeting was held today under the leadership of Chief Minister Kamal Nath," Madhya Pradesh Public Relations and Law and Legislative Minister P C Sharma told reporters here. It passed a resolution to provide 10 per cent reservation in government jobs and education to the poor of the general category.

Talking further, he said, "Reservation will benefit those whose income from all sources does not exceed eight lakh rupees a year, does not have more than 5 acres of agricultural land owned by them (this does not include barren, barren, rugged and rocky land) , 1200 sq. ft. houses/houses in the municipal area. No more than flat-sized housing, houses of 1500 sq.ft. in the municipality area/sq. ft. Flats and houses of 1800 sq.ft. in Nagar Panchayat area/Sq. Ft. There is no oversized housing, while no limit has been fixed in rural areas. ''

Earlier 124th Constitutional Amendment Bill, passed in Parliament, providing 10 per cent reservation in job and education for the poor of the general category, which has been implemented by many states.
