WASHINGTON: Kamala Harris' odds of winning the 2024 presidential race have reached an all-time high in the betting markets. As the election season progresses, Harris' chances have surged, even surpassing those of her rival, Donald Trump, on several platforms.

According to Polymarket, Harris now holds a 45% chance of winning the election, compared to Trump's 54%. Additionally, Harris outpaced Trump on Wednesday on PredictIt, with her shares priced 4 cents higher.

Harris Gains Momentum
Since Kamala Harris launched her presidential campaign with strong support from President Biden and Democratic donors, Donald Trump's path to victory has become more complicated. Polymarket data shows Trump is favored to win key battleground states such as Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina, with a 54% predicted chance. However, Harris is leading in Pennsylvania and has a 45% chance of winning the overall election.

Support from the Tech Community
According to Benzinga, Harris' rising popularity can be attributed to her successful outreach to the tech community in Silicon Valley. Her campaign has attracted notable figures, including Bitcoin advocate Mark Cuban, and she is considering a speaking engagement at Bitcoin 2024. Harris' team is also in discussions with leaders from companies like Ripple, Coinbase, and Circle. “Despite being an underdog in prediction markets, Harris is gaining support from tech elites,” Benzinga reported.

Harris Leads on PredictIt
On PredictIt, bets on Kamala Harris surged past those on Donald Trump on Wednesday afternoon. By Thursday morning, a bet on Harris was priced at 54 cents, compared to 50 cents for Trump, according to the Independent. Although the market remains volatile, Harris' edge is encouraging for Democrats, who have faced challenges with Biden's popularity. PredictIt data indicates that on Thursday, there were 31,375 bets for a Harris win and 25,985 for Trump.
