A petition against the two was filed in the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate's court by a Bollywood casting director and fitness trainer Munawwar Ali Syed.

Citing some of Kangana's tweets, he said in the petition, "Kangana has been continuously insulting Bollywood for the past few months by calling it the hub of nepotism and favouritism. By tweeting through her official Twitter handle and through TV interviews, she is making difference between Hindu and Muslim artists." Syed had also alleged, "He has made very objectionable tweets, which hurt not only religious sentiments but also the feelings of many colleagues of the industry."
