Mumbai: Kanika, the wife of Maharashtra's Shahid Major Kaustubh Rane, is soon to join the army. In August last year, Kaustubh was killed in an encounter with militants in Kashmir. Kanika had given the exam for the post of a senior army officer. in which she has passed. Kanika is now scheduled to go to Chennai in October for training. Kanika's son is now three years old. Kanika says she wants to keep husband Kaustubha's role model before her son. So he decided to join the army.

It is worth mentioning here that 29-year-old Major Kaustubha Prakash Rane, who lives in the cold town of Mira Road, was killed on August 7, 2018, when he was taken away by terrorists in the Gurez sector of Kashmir. Along with Kaustubha, three other soldiers, Mandeep Singh Rawat, Hamir Singh, and Vikram were also martyred. It was the army's biggest loss.

Kanika says that Kaustubha's life is in mind, but life cannot be cut with this misery. Kanika further said that Kaustub was a funny and lively person. He couldn't see me crying. That's why I decided not to join the army and make Kaustubha's dream come true. So I took the army test and passed.
