RRR put the South Indian film industry on the global map. The widely popular movie starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead role has been garnering praise worldwide after its track Naatu Naatu won the Oscars. Now, there is also an another exiting news for South film industry.

The Kannada film, Kantara, will be showcased at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, on March 17th, coinciding with actor Puneeth Raikumar's birth anniversary. The movie stars Rishab Shetty, Kishore, and Saptami Gowda and has broken numerous records in Karnataka and worldwide.

Rishab Shetty, during an interview, expressed his belief that regional stories have universal appeal. He said that the man versus nature conflict has existed since times immemorial, and he attempted to tell the same story through a folk tale. The film's deep connection to Indian culture makes it a universal film, he added, and he hopes that it will help younger generations connect with their roots.

According to CGAPP, the organisation’s director Anindya Sengupta met Rishab on the sidelines of the session, “as the Kantara star brings Indian stories to world stage.” “Kantara greatly inspires people to be aware of #environmental challenges and positively respond to challenges of conserving local #ecologies by appealing to their emotions,” it said. “Indian civil society and individuals have taken the lead in protection of local #ecology and biodiversity & Indian films have created a space for engagement on critical issues of #INDIGENOUS land rights, #biodiversity and conservation,” the CGAPP said in another tweet. “These stories from India will be part of the #UNHRC deliberations this year".

Kantara's screening at the United Nations is a significant achievement for the Kannada film industry. The movie's message about environmental issues and the conflict between man and nature resonates with audiences worldwide. Rishab Shetty's belief that regional stories have universal appeal is demonstrated by the success of this film, which has broken records in Karnataka and around the world.

About Kantara 2: Besides this, actor Rishab Shetty also announced Kantara 2 after the film completed 100 days. The director has confirmed that Kantara 2  will be hitting the theatres in 2024. He said in a statement, "We are very pleased and thankful to the audience who had shown immense love and support to Kantara and taking the journey ahead, with the blessing of almighty Daiva the film has successfully completed 100 days and I would like to take this opportunity to announce the prequel of Kantara. What you have seen is actually Part 2, Part 1 will come next year." The movie which gained huge commercial success was originally released only in Kannada and was later dubbed into Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages.
