NEW DELHI: Popular comedian Kapil Sharma has reportedly received a death threat via email, which,  originated from Pakistan, police said. This alarming incident places him alongside other celebrities like Rajpal Yadav, Sugandha Mishra, and Remo D’Souza, who have also been targeted with similar emails recently.

The Amboli Police have registered a case against an unidentified individual under Section 351(3) of the BNS Act, and investigations are un derway. According to officials, the threatening email specifically warned Sharma about his actions and demanded an immediate response.

The email read, "This is not a publicity stunt or a form of harassment. Please take this matter seriously and keep it confidential." The sender, identifying themselves as ‘BISHNU,’ insisted on a reply within eight hours and warned of serious personal and professional consequences if ignored.

Earlier, Sugandha Mishra and Remo D’Souza reported receiving similar emails, while Rajpal Yadav discovered a threatening message in his spam folder on December 17 and subsequently filed a complaint. The Mumbai Police are investigating these incidents with urgency due to the recurring pattern of targeting public figures.

These threats come at a time when concerns over celebrity safety in Mumbai are at an all-time high. In October last year, politician Baba Siddique was tragically shot dead outside his Bandra residence. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, linked to incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the attack. Following the incident, actor Salman Khan heightened his security, even installing bulletproof windows at his home.

More recently, on January 18, actor Saif Ali Khan was assaulted at his Bandra residence. He suffered six stab wounds, and doctors later removed a 2.5-inch knife fragment during his treatment at Lilavati Hospital. Saif, who was discharged on January 21, expressed gratitude to Bhajan Singh Rana, an auto driver who rushed him to the hospital, and thanked fans for their support outside his home.
