Manoj Pandey was given the task of liberating the Khalubar Post from enemies, handing over the major responsibility on July 3.

Subedar Sant Bahadur Rai, Ganesh Pradhan, and Lal Kumar Sununwar were among the three 11 Gorkha Rifles. All three were part of Manoj Pandey's unit that played a key role in winning Khalubar. Subedar Sant Bahadur Rai said that while throwing hand grenades, Lt. Manoj Pandey first eliminated the enemy soldiers from Khalubar. Then, in a face-to-face battle, they blew up three bunkers of enemies one after the other. He was also badly injured during this time. Lt. Manoj Pandey's shoulder and leg were badly injured by the firing of the enemy. But he continued. As soon as he blew up the fourth bunker of the enemy, a bullet blowing from the front crossed his head, Captain Manoj attained gallantry, but he drove the Pakistanis out of the Khalubar post. Lt. Manoj Pade was posthumously awarded PVC for his indomitable courage and courage.
