Bangalore: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit Bengaluru on May 3 ahead of the state's cabinet expansion. On Friday, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said he would discuss with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to consider inducting new faces in the state cabinet.
"Amit Shah is likely to visit Bengaluru on May 3," Bommai said today, "and I would try to use the opportunity to seek an audience to discuss cabinet expansion." He told reporters after attending a press conference to announce the new products of the JS Group of Companies, "I'm flying to Delhi this evening to attend a meeting of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices from throughout the country. I haven't talked to the party's highest brass about expanding the cabinet. The decision will be made by the party leadership at the proper time."
It is pertinent to note that Basavaraj Bommai, a BJP lawmaker, was sworn in as Karnataka's 23rd chief minister on July 28, 2021. At the Raj Bhavan, Basavaraj Bommai was sworn in as chief minister in the presence of former chief minister BS Yediyurappa and Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot. Since then, the state's Cabinet expansion has been scheduled.
