Karnataka CM Yediurappa conducts aerial survey of flood affected areas

The Northern Karnataka was worst hit by the heavy rainfall and the flood. 12 districts of Karnataka were worst hit. INR 86 crore has been released by the state government last week for rescue and relief operations in the 12 districts.The officials has said the Karnataka state chief minister undertook aerial survey of Kalaburagi, Yadgir and Raichur in the state’s northern region and Belagavi, Bagalkote and Vijayapura in the northwest region and assured the affected people of releasing more funds for their relief and rehabilitation.

Northern Karnataka gets heavily flooded

 The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given assurance to help the state in all possible ways. Besides the rainfall, the floods causes rivers to overflow and isolated the villages in Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Bagalkot and Vijayapura districts. Roads and bridges were damaged and power lines were affected due to strong winds. The team from Central Government is planning to visit soon and assess the damage caused to crops, houses and public infrastructure and prepares a report for estimating the financial aid from the national disaster relief fund. 

Rescue mission continues for those stuck in floods

The state agriculture department is assessing the damage for compensation and insurance claims is now surveying the rain-affected crop areas. A rough estimate of INR 500 crore damage to pulse crops was made by the rainfall and the floods.  State Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chauhan and State Disaster Management Authority Commissioner Manoj Rajan accompanied the CM in the aerial survey of the worst-hit districts.
