Karnataka CM Yediyurappa, among others, condole death of Justice Rama Jois

Former Governor of Bihar and Jharkhand M Rama Jois passed away in Bengaluru on Tuesday after prolonged illness.  A former Rajya Sabha MP, the 88-year-old legal luminary who had also served as the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, was reportedly suffering from age-related ailments.

Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa condoled his death and in his message said, "Justice Rama Jois, who hailed from Shivamogga district, has served as Governor of Bihar and Jharkhand, Rajyasabha member and Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High court. He was a legal luminary whose thoughts were reflected well in his books on law and constitution."

Remembering Jois, the Chief Minister said, "Justice Jois was imprisoned during emergency period. In his death, we have lost a great thinker."

Grieving over his death, BSY in his tweet prayed, "May the departed soul rest in peace and may God give strength to the bereaved family to bear this loss."

Other condolence messages:, BJP President J P Nadda In his condolence message said  ‘Justice Jois served selflessly for the nation and left his deep imprint on Judiciary, Executive and legislative fields”.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Justice Joi's book 'The Legal and Constitutional History of India' is a treatise.

"His monumental works on Ancient Indian Law and Statecraft will remain a treasure of knowledge forever," Karnataka Health and Medical Education Minister Sudhakar K, said.
