The Karnataka Congress has decided to appoint one legislator and organisational senior to each ward and panchayat as in-charges to win the by-polls. A meeting of senior Congress leaders, including KPCC president D K Shivakumar, Congress Legislative Party chief Siddaramaiah and former deputy chief minister G Parameshwara, to devise poll strategies on Sunday, high emphasis on social media platform to utilization during campaigning amid the Covid pandemic . “Legislators and senior leaders will be made in charge of each ward and every panchayat in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. Grassroots- and block-level workers will be given specific responsibility in every booth,” said Shivakumar. 

The congress candidates announced were T B Jayachandra and H Kusuma as the party candidates for Sira and Rajarajeshwari Nagar assembly constituencies, respectively. The plan to use digital platform in election campaign comes from the huge response on Shivakumar’s oath-taking ceremony as state Congress chief through the digital platform.  The party is planning to engage the candidates in large-screen setups at panchayat and ward levels, mass messaging services apart from social media campaign. With restrictions in place for public meetings and gatherings, the party is keen on engaging voters via online platforms.

This election post taking charge as leader serves as a crucial time for DK Shivakumar. Regarding the caste based votes, both the constituencies have a considerable number of Vokkaliga votes. The strategy Vokkaligas will not go after JDS gives positive wave to congress and the leaders from this community have met congress president post raid ensures it.
