Bangalore: Amid the ongoing hijab controversy in Karnatak, a historic private college in Mysuru city on Friday cancelled its dress code to allow Muslim girl students to enter class with hijab. This is the first college to take such a decision in the province. D.K. Srinivasa Murthy of DDPU College, Mysore, said, "Four girl students had refused to attend classes without a hijab and were protesting. Some organizations supported them. I visited the college today and spoke to everyone. '

"In the meantime, the college announced that it is cancelling its dress code to allow girl students to enter classes. State Home Minister Araga Gyanendra has already said that there will be no more softer stance towards the students and strict action will be taken against those who violate the interim orders. In another incident, the principal of Indie College in Vijayapura district did not allow a Hindu student to enter the class for applying 'sindoor'. The student was stopped at the gate and asked to remove the vermilion. In the interim direction given by the High Court, no religious symbol is allowed.

The family members of the Hindu student came to the school premises and questioned the school authorities and said that the original tradition cannot be questioned. The student was allowed to enter the classroom after the intervention of the police. Shriram Sena founder Pramod Mutalik has condemned the action demanding suspension of the principal.
