Bangalore: A day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a statement on Hindi, former Karnataka Chief Minister and JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy on Friday said that Amit Shah and the Central government are forcefully imposing their personal agendas on the people. In fact, Home Minister Amit Shah had said in a statement that people should use the Hindi language with each other.
Speaking to the media, HD Kumar Swamy said, "The central government and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are actually trying to run their personal agenda forcibly. But they won't succeed. People will teach them a lesson. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is ruling both the Centre and Karnataka, has been accused by its critics of promoting Hindi instead of regional languages, even in states where Hindi is not the primary language.''
In October last year, Kumaraswamy had also accused the BJP government in the southern state of bypassing Kannada (the official language of the state) in favour of Hindi. There have been several protests in the southern states, including Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, against the alleged imposition of Hindi.
