The bail plea of one of the prime accused in the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh has been canceled recently. In fact, the petition has been dismissed by the Karnataka High Court. Mohan Nayak, a 50-year-old accused who allegedly supported a 'crime syndicate' in carrying out the murder, was a logistics support and an integral part of the syndicate. In fact, it had sought bail in several cases on April 22. There are allegations of alleged delay in filing of charge sheets by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up to probe the case.

A single-judge bench of Justice Srinivas Harish Kumar has ruled that Nayak, who is accused number 11 in the murder case, cannot seek bail on the ground that the SIT filed a chargesheet against him only on November 23, 2018. Was. He was arrested more than 90 days later on July 19, 2018. Since the bail application was filed only after the chargesheet was filed.

Let us also inform all of you that the High Court in its order dated July 13 had said that the time limit for filing the charge sheet is 180 days despite another bench of the court ordering the dropping of the KCOCA charges. That is why, through his order on April 22, the hero cannot avail the bail. With this, Lankesh's sister Kavita Lankesh moved to the Supreme Court last month. On June 29, SC issued notices to the state and SIT in the case and said the bail plea filed by Naik in HC in the KCOCA case should be "decided without being affected by the objectionable order."
