Prayagraj: The Karnataka High Court has made important remarks in a decision amid alleged love jihad noise in the country. The court has said that choosing your life partner on your own will be the fundamental right of any adult youth. The court has said that every citizen of the country got this right from the constitution.
A similar decision was given a few days ago by the Allahabad High Court. The Allahabad High Court had said that an adult citizen has the right to marry a person of his choice. Hearing the petition filed by HB Wajid Khan, who hails from Bengaluru on November 27, the Karnataka High Court held that this freedom granted by the constitution to the personal relationship of two persons cannot be violated by anyone and includes religion and caste.
According to a media report, Bangalore software engineer Wajid Khan had filed a Habeas Corpus petition in the High Court, requesting his associate software engineer Ramya to be produced in the court and set him free. Acting on the direction of the court, the Chandra Layout Police presented Ramya before the court. During this hearing Ramya's parents Gangadhar and Girija and Wajid Khan's mother Srilakshmi were also present in the court. Ramya told the court that she was currently living with an NGO. Ramya alleged that her parents are opposing her marriage with Wajid Khan. On this, the court ordered the release of the NGO with whom Ramya was living and said that as a software engineer, Ramya is capable of taking decisions for his life.
