BANGALORE:  Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said that the release of details from the chargesheet in the Renukaswamy murder case, which involves Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and 16 others, will not influence court proceedings.

He emphasized that the court will base its decisions on the official chargesheet and evidence provided by the police. "No, they will go by the documents. Just because someone speaks something in the public domain, the court doesn’t take it into cognisance. They will go by the merits of the case based on documents and evidence that are there," Parameshwara said.

The police recently submitted a 3,991-page preliminary chargesheet for the case. Regarding concerns about the chargesheet's details becoming public and Darshan's request for the court to restrict this information, Parameshwara noted: “Once the chargesheet is submitted, it is given to the opposite lawyers too. It is no longer a secret document, and its release cannot be prevented.”

On allegations from some BJP leaders suggesting that the disclosure of chargesheet details is an attempt to distract from a purported site allotment scam involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Parameshwara responded that these are separate issues. “The Rameshwaram cafe blast case chargesheet has been filed by the NIA. Can similar allegations be made about it? There is no connection. These cases are handled independently,” he said.

When asked about the NIA’s findings related to the Rameshwaram Cafe terror attack, Parameshwara said, “It is a case handled by the NIA. We don’t know the specifics of their chargesheet or its findings. They have mentioned a plan to attack the BJP office, but we have not received detailed briefings on other matters.”
