The Bill prohibits illegal conversion from one religion to another by coercion, greed or any deceit.

Giving any person the right to file a complaint against conversion, the bill provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years. It has been declared a non-bailable offence in this bill. On this bill, Archd Osij told the media that "The entire Christian community in Karnataka is very upset and deeply saddened by the passage of the Bill 'Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion - 2021'.
