Kartarpur: The Central Government has gifted Sikh devotees ahead of Guru Nanak Dev's birth anniversary (November 19) Guru Parv. Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday announced that the Kartarpur sahib corridor has been reopened from Wednesday. After that, today the first batch is going to visit the Gurudwara. The Open Kartarpur Corridor in November 2019 was closed in March 2020 due to the epidemic.

Amit Shah tweeted: Where it is learnt that Home Minister Amit Shah had tweeted announcing that, "The decision to resume the movement of devotees through the corridor leading to Kartarpur Sahib in Narowal, Pak reflects the immense reverence of the Modi government towards Shri Guru Nanak Dev-Ji and our Sikh community," Home Minister Amit Shah has continued his statement that the nation is engaged in celebrating the Prakash Utsav of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on November 19 and is confident that the move will add to the happiness and enthusiasm across the country. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi welcomed the Centre's decision and said the state cabinet will be part of a group that will visit the Gurudwara in Pak on November 18.

In view of corona, several conditions are to be followed for the journey to the Kartarpur corridor:

- The temperature of all devotees will be checked.
- Masks and social distancing have been made mandatory.
- The covid guidelines applicable in Pakistan will also be applicable in Kartarpur.
- A sanitisation tunnel has been installed in the Gurudwara complex.
- RT-PCR is not necessary on gurudwara.
- Passengers with symptoms will be isolated.

Not only that, the 4.5 km long corridor connects Dera Baba Nanak Temple in Gurdaspur, Punjab, to Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, a small town in Punjab province of Pak, about 4 km from the international border. This is where Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, spent the last 18 years of his life.
