Patna: Former Bihar law minister Kartik Kumar alias Kartikey Singh is said to be absconding in a kidnapping case. Patna Police are searching for him, but he was not found at their two houses. It is being said that Kartik Singh has escaped leaving his government bodyguards. The next hearing in the Raju builder kidnapping case in Danapur court is on September 19. Earlier, his bail plea was rejected by the court.

RJD leader Kartik Kumar Singh became a minister in Nitish Kumar's Grand Alliance government last month. In the new government, he got the responsibility of the Law Department. But a day after he became a Minister, he got into controversy. It was told that on the day he was taking oath as a minister, he was to surrender in court in the kidnapping case. Seeing the controversy growing, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar changed his portfolio a few days later. Then Kartik Kumar Singh himself resigned from the post of minister.

Kartik Singh is a criminal in the Raju Builder kidnapping case that took place in Bihta, Patna in 2014. Bahubali leader and former MLA Anant Singh is also a co-criminal. The court had issued a bailable warrant against Karthik in the case. In the past, when the police reached their Patna and Mokama house to execute the warrant, he was not found. Subsequently, the police returned the report of the execution to the court. He has been absconding since then. According to a report received, Patna SSP Manavjit Singh Dhillon said that the police are constantly searching for former minister Kartik Kumar. Teams were sent to both their houses but he was not found. The bodyguards given to him by the police for security are at Patna's house.
