NEW DELHI: The death of Yasin Malik, the head of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), a prominent separatist leader in Kashmir, has spread rumours. Separatist leader Yasin Malik is currently lodged in Delhi's Tihar jail. The jail administration dismissed it as mere rumour. DG Jail Sandeep Goyal said, "This is a mere rumour. He said he is perfectly healthy. Yasin Malik was shifted to Tihar jail in April.

Over the past few days, women inmates have been crying out for a variety of screams in jail number six. According to senior jail officials, this is baseless and the jail administration is investigating who is behind such rumours. Malik is reportedly in jail on terrorism financing cases.

Amid large number of military deployments and increased political turmoil in Jammu and Kashmir, reports of Yasin Malik's death were floating in the air. According to local reports, such rumours may have been spread to spoil the atmosphere. The Tihar jail administration said Yasin is in jail and healthy. Significantly, the rumour began to spread when Malik's Wife of Pakistan origin claimed in a video message that her condition was deteriorating and she needed early treatment.
