Yashowardhan Mishra's Katahal is currently streaming on Netflix. Starring Sanya Malhotra, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, Anant Joshi, Neha Saraf, Govind Pandey, Brijendra Kala, Gurpal Singh and Raghuvir Yadav. The film is 1 hour and 55 minutes long.

The plot, which is set in post-pandemic days, centers on Mahima Basor (Sanya Malhotra), a smart police officer from a lower caste who gets involved in a weird case. Two cherished jackfruits go missing from the yard of a local politician (Vijay Raaz), and that is when everything begins. The police begin searching for the jackfruits, but when they find the truth, the case takes an unexpected turn.

The humorous movie sends a subtle message about respecting women while also shining light on the caste system and broader social concerns. Since the plot is based on a true story, you'll be fascinated until the very end to find out what happened to the missing jackfruits.

Since the plot mostly stays true to the setting, most of these sequences develop slowly, depicting the rural setting and way of life. Kathal may appear strained in certain places, yet it never loses sight of its goals. Kathal prefers to gently remind us of societal prejudices and flaws in the system rather than making grand pronouncements. It also emphasizes the small pleasures in life.
