Hyderabad: In a bid to ensure a secure living for all the poor, the Telangana government has launched the "Aasara" pensions as part of its welfare initiatives and social safety net policy. It is a scheme for the welfare of the elderly, widows, physically handicapped, and beedi workers.
Asif Nagar, the revenue department officer, D Sunil Kumar said that 10,000 new Aasara pensions have been sanctioned under Asif Nagar Mandal jurisdiction.
The remaining cards are distributed in the morning at the MRO office. There are 35,000 pensioners in Asif Nagar Mandal, with 10,000 receiving new pensions and 25,000 receiving older pensions, the official said. "Window pensions sanctioned by the Telangana government have been given to respected people," the official said.
Najmunisa, a recipient, thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for the widow pension card and the Rs 2,100 she received through it. She said, for 14 years, she had not received a card; now that one has been made, and now she is very much happy.
Anuradha, a different recipient, claimed that the Telangana government is dispersing the cards for everyone's welfare.
"I obtained the widow pension card from the office. The Telangana government is providing it for everyone's welfare. I appreciate the government for it," she added. "Every month, I get rupees Rs 2,016 directly deposited into my account."
