New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has termed the arrest of Delhi government minister Satyendar Jain by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as a political gimmick. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Kejriwal said that Satyendra Jain is completely innocent and we have full faith in our judiciary.
Kejriwal said on Tuesday that I have personally studied the case of arrest of Satyendra Jain by ED, it is a complete fraud. We neither do corruption nor tolerate corruption. We have a very honest government. Kejriwal linked the probe agency's action with the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections and said that Jain was targeted for political reasons. We have faith in our judiciary. According to the information, the investigating agency had arrested Delhi Health Minister and AAP leader Satyendar Jain on Monday. The ED says that Jain was not cooperating with the probe agency in the money laundering probe against him. Jain is said to be allegedly involved in the case.
Jain has been arrested by the ED under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in a case related to hawala transactions relating to a Kolkata-based company. The action comes a month after the attachment of assets worth Rs 4.81 crore of his family and companies controlled by him.
