Darrang deputy commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarmah has ordered the school to close in order to prevent the infection from spreading among the children and staff. "Five teachers at the school have been infected with the Covid virus," Darrang DC Pranab Kumar Sarmah told Northeast Now. "I have ordered the suspension of physical sessions at the school for a week commencing Monday." Three of the five teachers who tested positive for COVID are male, while the other two are female.
After winter vacation, the five teachers arrived in Mangaldai a few days ago from their respective states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. One of the afflicted female teacher's close relatives also tested positive for COVID. Meanwhile, the virus has been found in 28 new COVID positive cases, including two pupils and one staff member from Bahagorha Game Shark Kunwari Janajati HS school and nine more people from the 210 Cobra battalion camp in Dalgaon. The total number of positive cases in the area has already reached 10,000.
