Odisha's Deputy Chief Minister, Pravati Parida, announced on Saturday that approximately 20 lakh additional beneficiaries under the Subhadra Yojana are expected to receive their first installment of Rs 5,000 by the end of November. This third phase of disbursement will bring essential financial support to more women across the state. The government has already disbursed Rs 5,000 each to about 60 lakh women in two previous phases.
Parida mentioned that the third-phase disbursement will likely be credited to beneficiaries' bank accounts on November 24, during an event in Sundergarh, with Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram expected to attend.
The remaining eligible women will receive their benefits in the fourth phase of the scheme, anticipated to roll out in December.
The Subhadra Yojana, launched on September 17, is a flagship initiative aimed at empowering women in Odisha by providing financial assistance of Rs 50,000 over five years. Each year, beneficiaries receive Rs 10,000 in two installments. The first phase saw about 25 lakh women receive their funds, followed by 35 lakh women in the second phase on October 9.
Addressing the issue of rejected applications, Parida said each panchayat office has been instructed to publish lists of rejected applications. Additionally, women with incomplete bank details can be included in the following phases. So far, applications from around 2.67 lakh women have been rejected due to various reasons.
Highlighting future plans, Parida added that the scheme aims to reach around 1 crore women and will soon extend coverage to Anganwadi workers, as long as they have no government-employed family members.
