In a significant move, the Kerala state government has removed actor and MLA Mukesh from a key film policy committee following allegations of sexual harassment. This decision comes just two days after a special investigation team was formed to probe the findings of the Hema Committee, which highlighted instances of harassment within the Malayalam film industry.

Actress Minu Muneer has publicly accused Mukesh of sexual misconduct, along with allegations of verbal and physical abuse against fellow actors Maniyanpilla Raju, Jayasurya, and Idavela Babu during their work on various film projects. Muneer first shared her experiences on social media, detailing incidents that date back to 2013.

The Hema Committee's report has shed light on multiple cases of harassment in the Malayalam cinema world, sparking widespread calls for accountability. The controversy deepened after director Ranjith and actor Siddique resigned from their roles in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) amid separate accusations against them.

In her statements, Muneer recounted disturbing encounters, including one where Jayasurya allegedly hugged and kissed her without consent, and another where Idavela Babu expressed a desire for a sexual relationship. She also described inappropriate advances made by Maniyanpilla Raju regarding her hotel accommodations during a film shoot.

In response to the allegations, Mukesh, who is also a member of the Legislative Assembly, released a statement asserting his innocence. He welcomed the ongoing investigation and emphasized the need for a fair and transparent inquiry to uncover the truth behind the accusations. Mukesh further alleged that Muneer had previously sought financial assistance from him and had attempted to blackmail him.

Amid these developments, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced the formation of a special investigation team to thoroughly examine the allegations. The Chief Minister's Office issued an official statement, acknowledging the serious nature of the accusations and affirming the government's commitment to ensuring justice for the victims.
