Cochin: The Indian Army rescued a 23-year-old teenager who had been stuck for about two days in a cleft of the Malampuzha mountains in Kerala. Babu, the boy, was taken to the top of the mountain by an Army squad in an unprecedented rescue effort. The rescue operation lasted about 40 minutes. The boy will be airlifted to the hospital for a medical examination shortly.
Babu slipped and fell into a deadly crevice along the steep rock while trekking with his friends in the 1000-meter high Cheradu highlands on Monday. He screamed for aid since he couldn't move. Despite the attempts of police, fire, and rescue crews to save him, all of their efforts were in vain. Attempts to feed and water him with a drone were also unsuccessful. The Navy team also attempted to airlift him using rope, but the endeavour was unsuccessful.
The Army squad arrived at the scene and began the rescue effort by Tuesday night, as requested by the state government. Finally, the Bengaluru Army team's climbing professionals were able to approach Babu and provide him with food and water.
