Kochi: A Catholic bishop in Kerala's statement on love and narcotic jihad has created a stir in the state. Many Muslim organizations have condemned the Catholic bishop's statement. Now the first of state CM Pinarayi Vijayan has come to light in this case. CM Vijayan has said that words like narcotics are heard for the first time. The narcotic-like threat is not limited to just one community, but it is the problem of each society. We need to worry about it.

It may be recalled that the Catholic bishop had created a controversy by saying that Christian girls in the state were falling into the trap of 'love jihad and narcotic jihad' in large numbers and that where weapons could not be used, extremists were resorting to these tactics to trap girls of other religions. The bishop alleged that under Love Jihad, non-Muslim girls, especially girls from the Christian community, are being converted and exploited by trapping them in love. At the same time, they are being used in destructive activities like terrorism.

The bishop quoted former police DGP Loknath Behera's recent statements as a recruitment center for Kerala terrorists and an underground cell of extremist groups that exist in the province. The bishop claimed that Christian and Hindu girls of the state were converted and sent to terror camps in Afghanistan recently. He said the subject should be seriously investigated. He also said that those who are saying that Kerala does not have 'love jihad and narcotic jihad' are turning a blind eye to reality. Politicians, socio-cultural leaders, and journalists who are denying this fact may have vested interests in doing so.
