Southern State Kerala on Thursday clocked 30,491 new coronavirus cases and 128 more deaths, taking the caseload to 22,33, 904 and the toll climbed to 6,852. As many as 44,369 persons have been recovered, pushing the total recoveries to 19,38,887, while 3,17,850 are undergoing treatment for the infection, the state government said.
At the highest level, Malappuram reported 4,746 cases, followed by Thiruvananthapuram 3,969. Ernakulam and Kollam also reported over 3,000 cases. Palakkad-1260, Alappuzha-2423, Thrissur-2217, Kozhikode-2121, Kottayam-1730, Kannur- 1330, Pathanamthitta-956, Idukki-798, Kasaragod-716 and Wayanad- 505.
Of the new cases, 101 are health workers, 172 had come from outside the state and 28,176 were infected through contact. As many as 9,99,338 persons are under quarantine, including 38,685 in hospitals.
The number of active cases touched 3,17,850 in the state. 19,38,887 people recovered from the disease so far. Out of this 9,60,653 are under home/institutional quarantine and 38,685 people are in hospitals. 3972 people were taken to hospitals on Thursday.
101 health frontline works also tested positive for COVID -19. Among them, 18 were from Kannur, 13 from Ernakulam, 11 from Kollam, 10 each from Palakkad and Kasaragod, 9 from Thiruvananthapuram, 8 from Pathanamthitta, 6 each from Thrissur and Wayanad, 4 from Kozhikode, 3 from Idukki, 2 from Alappuzha and 1 from Malappuram.
