THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala's Covid situation is improving, with 2,190 people testing positive on Friday, compared to 2,222 the day before, for a test positivity rate of 6.74 percent, according to Health Minister Veena George.

Things appear to be looking up for the state in recent days, as daily counts have been continuously declining and hanging around the lower end of four-digit levels, down from a monthly high of 50,000 cases a month ago.

With this improvemnt, theatres, shops, restaurants, and educational institutions have all reopened and are fully operational.

On the same day, 3,878 people were able to recover, bringing the overall number of active cases in the state down to 17,105, with 8.8% of them being admitted to various hospitals across the state. Three more Covid deaths have been reported, bringing the total to 66,012.

Meanwhile, India recorded 5,921 new cases, along with 289 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. As perhe data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday, the country witness a total of 11,651 discharges in the last 24-hrs, taking the total recovery rate at neraly 98.65-pct and total recoveries data crossed to 4,23,78,72
