Kochi: The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) gave a Delhi-based trust permission to host a nine-day 'Ramakatha' event in the Pamba-Triveni Manalppuram area of Pathanamthitta district on Wednesday, noting the venue in question could not be used exclusively for such an activity.
The site in question was supposed to provide facilities to devotees arriving for 'darshan' or pilgrimage, according to a bench of Justices Anil K Narendran and P G Ajithkumar, and so a programme intended just for trust followers could not be held there.
The high court also ordered the Nandkishore Bajoria Charitable Trust, based in Delhi, to "immediately" dismantle all temporary buildings, such as tents and fences, that had been erected at the site. The trust explained that the programme was suggested to be held solely for its members in view of the COVID-19 requirements.
"Whatever the position of Respondent 10 (trust), no area in Pamba Manalppuram can be solely used for any such activity, thereby causing difficulty to pilgrims," the court stated.
