The Kerala High Court has sent a notice to South film actress Tamannaah Bhatia, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and Malayalam actor Aju Varghese in the case of promoting online games. These notices have been received due to the brand ambassador of the online rummy game. The notice has been received in connection with a plea appealing to stop such online games.
As per the information received, the Government of Kerala has also been asked to reply on this case. The special bench of the Kerala High Court was headed by Chief Justice S Manikumar and Justice Anil Narandran, who heard the case on Wednesday. Thereafter, the court had sent notices to Tamannaah Bhatia, Virat Kohli and Aju Varghese. The petition was filed by Pauly Vadakkan, a resident of Thrissur. The petitioner filed a petition seeking legal prohibition of online rummy games.
He said that they are becoming more popular with the growing time. The plea also said that people on this platform also come for fraud and the people who play are losing their savings also. Pauly Vadakkan alleged that several reports of the forgery have come to the fore. He gave an example to an ISRO employee living in Thiruvananthapuram who was caught in the trap of online rummy games. He was allegedly given a debt of Rs. 21 lakhs and he had been well-informed. He also said that online rummy games do not come under the Kerala Gaming Act 1960.
