Thiruvananthapuram: The corona pandemic continues to wreak havoc all over the world, and temples have also been closed. The Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala has also been closed for devotees. The state government has decided to close the temple after several employees, including 2 priests of the temple, were infected with COVID19 in the past.

According to information, 10 priests have been found corona infected at Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Of these, 2 are chief priests and 8 associate priests. 2 guards of the temple have also been found corona infected. The temple has been closed until October 15 after such a large number of priests were found corona-infected. The temple management has issued an order after priests found corona positive. Entry in the temple will remain closed till October 15. 

The central government had allowed the opening of shrines under the guidelines of Unlock 4. Under the guideline, the Padmanabhaswamy temple was opened to the devotees on August 26. A number of stringent provisions were made for this. Devotees are to register online a day before darshan. Online registration and submission of a copy of Aadhaar card is required before entering the temple.
