Kerala plane crash: Dead bodies of 16 passengers handed over to family

New Delhi: The mortal remains of 16 people killed in an Air India Express plane crash in Kozhikode, K Rall, have been handed over to their family members on Sunday. The dead body of 58-year-old Deepak Sathe, the main pilot who lost his life in this plane crash, was kept in Bhabha Hospital which was handed over to his family members in Mumbai.

Sathe will be cremated on Tuesday. One of his sons will reach India on Monday night from America. The body of Deepak Sathe's co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar was cremated in his hometown Mathura on Sunday in the presence of relatives and officials of Air India and Air India Express.

It is noteworthy that after landing at Kozhikode Airport on Friday evening with 190 passengers including six crew members, the Air India Express plane coming from Dubai fell into a ditch 35 feet below the runway and broke into two pieces. In which 18 people including two pilots died. In this horrific accident, 149 people injured were admitted to various hospitals for treatment. The condition of many of the injured is now said to be stable.
