Thiruvananthapuram: Normal life has been completely disrupted due to heavy rains in Kerala. The MET department has issued a red alert in six districts while there are 7 districts where orange and two districts have been issued a yellow alert. At the same time, Rahul Gandhi, MP from Wayanad in Kerala, has also tweeted and asked people to stay safe. In his tweet, he writes, "I am with the people of Kerala. Please be safe and follow all security precautions.''

On the other hand, six people have died due to landslides and floods in Kottayam and Kokkyar in the Idukki districts. With this, a dozen people have gone missing. According to the information received, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan convened an emergency meeting in the evening to take stock of the situation. State authorities have banned night movement in hilly areas of the state. At the same time, the Indian Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rain in six districts of Kerala namely Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur etc. Let me tell you that dams here in many districts are close to their full potential and small towns and villages in hilly areas have been completely cut off from the outside world.

On the other hand, The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur districts. An orange alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. At the same time, a statement said, "Kerala is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall by the morning of October 17 due to low pressure on the Southeast Arabian Sea off the Kerala coast. This is followed by a drop in rainfall from the morning of October 19.''
